Seaside Science (Thursday June 30, & Tuesday, July 5)
The Center for Coastal Studies presents two junior programs this week. The first, “Junior Entanglement Responder,” teaches kids about freeing marine wildlife from fishing gear, on Thursday, June 30, 11 a.m. to noon. On Tuesday, July 5, 10 to 11:30 a.m., kids discover marine life in Provincetown Harbor during “Get to the Bottom of It!” Both classes meet at the SEA Space Marine Discovery Center in Whaler’s Wharf, 237 Commercial St. Registration for each is $10 at coastalstudies.org.
Mess Fest (Friday, July 1, & Wednesday, July 6)
The Eastham Public Library, 190 Samoset Road, invites kids to be creative with none of the cleanup at “Messy Art” on Friday, July 1, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fans of the Orleans Firebirds can return Wednesday, July 6, 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. for read-aloud storytime with the players. You Can Kick It (Saturday, July 2)
The Truro Public Library, 7 Standish Way, invites kids and grown-ups to learn capoeira from teacher André Lima every Saturday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Capoeira is a unique Afro-Brazilian art form that combines dance and martial art in a setting that encourages camaraderie and fun. Kids will get the chance to play traditional instruments and sing traditional capoeira songs in Portuguese. All ages and levels are welcome to participate in this outdoor activity.
Brain Food (Tuesday July 5 -Thursday, July 7)
The Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, 2357 State Highway, presents WHAT for Kids’ production of How To Cook Up A Good Idea, by MJ Halberstadt. The interactive show is about a group of young friends operating an imaginary restaurant, welcoming audience suggestions as they prepare for an important shift. The first week of performances run Tuesday, July 5 to Thursday, July 7, 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 at what.org.
Walk the Plankton (Wednesday, July 6)
The Center for Coastal Studies comes to the Wellfleet Public Library for “All About Plankton” on Wednesday, July 6, 4 p.m. Kids will get to learn about plankton, look at it under microscopes, and feel it in their fingers. Face masks are required.
Gather ’Round (Wednesday, July 6)
The Truro Public Library hosts Julie Stepanek, who welcomes all ages for an evening of ukelele and campfire songs on Wednesday, July 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. Stepanek offers kids a chance to try the instrument. No experience is necessary. Ukeleles will be provided.
