Love Live Local
Until mid-July, 2021 was looking like the best summer in Provincetown’s history. But the July 4 Covid-19 outbreak changed that.
John Avila, of Captain John Boats, said he lost up to 80 percent of his summer business, stated Radu Luca, executive director of the Provincetown Chamber of Commerce, in an announcement. On a typical Friday in August, Avila found himself transporting 26 people on his Provincetown ferry when he normally would have had 200.
Unlike last year, governmental aid to help those in Provincetown’s unique situation was nonexistent.
So, the nonprofit Love Live Local, a small business advocacy organization, is offering a new round of grants of $500 to $2,000 to help Provincetown businesses pay for day-to-day expenses such as rent, supplies, inventory, marketing, and training. Preference is given to year-round, community-minded, brick-and-mortar companies in the downtown area, according to the announcement.
Applications from Provincetown businesses will begin to be accepted in mid-October. For more information, visit lovelivelocal.com/resilience. —K.C Myers
