Covid-19 Update
As of Jan. 14, Eastham had six new cases within the preceding 14 days and 54 total cases to date, according to the Mass. Dept. of Public Health weekly Covid-19 report. No Eastham Covid-19 deaths have been reported.
Electrifying
Eastham has upped its fleet of vehicles, taking delivery on two Nissan Leaf electric cars last week. Also arriving last week were EV charging stations destined for installation at the library and town hall.
“We have to get Eversource on site to do their infrastructure work and then we can install them,” Finance Director Rich Bienvenue told the finance committee at its Jan. 13 meeting.
“We’ll run extension cords in the meantime,” he joked.
Select board vice chair Aimee Eckman said on Tuesday that the stations installed at the library would be available to the public 24/7 and be free of charge. The station installed at town hall will also be free but available for public use only during the day. “At night the town vehicles will be charged,” noted Eckman. —Linda Culhane
