Aden Choate is from rural Illinois, where before coming to Provincetown as a Local Journalism Project fellow in 2023 she worked as a producer of The 21st Show, a public radio news talk show that airs on NPR stations across that state. She was an editorial intern and a fact-checker at the American Prospect. A 2021 graduate of Georgetown University, she was the editor of Bossier, the school’s feminist literary magazine.

Christine Legere is a veteran reporter, with 35 years of experience covering news in the south of Boston area.

Edward Miller is co-founder and editor of the Provincetown Independent. He previously founded two small newspapers, the Harvard Post and the Bolton Common, and a publishing company, the Harvard Common Press. He was a founding editor of Highwire, a national news magazine for high school students, and taught writing at Harvard. He co-authored How to Produce a Small Newspaper: A Guide for Independent Journalists in 1978.

Parker Mumford spent the first eighteen years of his life in Eastham, the town he returned to in 2023 and now covers as a reporter. Prior to joining the Independent, he worked as a history and literature teacher at a middle school in Brooklyn. He is interested in Japanese pop culture and has translated manga fanzines. He graduated from Skidmore College in 2022.

William von Herff is a scientist-turned-science journalist from Ottawa, Ontario who joined the Independent after earning a master’s degree in science writing from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2023. His reporting focuses on the environment, wildlife, climate change, history, and his biggest passion: birds. His undergraduate degree in biology is from McGill University in Montreal.

Susan Abbott lives in Eastham with her husband and three cats. She’s a self-employed graphic designer, and also volunteers at the National Seashore, Nauset Light Preservation Society, and Mass Audubon, and plays in two town bands.
